Price and Publishing
The price of my magazine will be roughly £2 because it’s quite a cheap price for a great music magazine that will have lots and lots of pages full of music, band’s and artist’s including old stuff and new stuff. I think this price will be affordable for my target audience because students consider music to be one of their most important topics running through their minds and would rather spend £2 on a music magazine then something else because it’s not a lot of money and it would be worth spending that on the magazine and not a drink and a snack. Its main competitor would be NME and that magazine costs about £2.20 so my magazine will keep to that amount of money because if it was more expensive less people may buy it because NME is a similar magazine and would be considered cheaper. Also this price will be cheap because it will be published once a month and £2 will not be much money once a month. I’d publish this magazine once a month because it gives time to find new, great music to be included in the next issue and it makes the magazine seem more special then something that comes out every week.
My Target Audience
Although my magazine will be suitable for anyone as it will include articles about bands and artist from the past as well as bands and artists that are present my target audience will have no pacific gender however the age will be for 15-24 year olds in the demographics categories. I don’t have a pacific demographic S.E.G because it doesn’t matter if its people who are higher managerial or professional, or semi-skilled manual workers or even casual labourers and unemployed people, music can be liked by anyone and everyone has different taste however it’s not going to be a high standard magazine. The Value Life Styles I am aiming to have as my audience is groups who are outer and inner-directed. On the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs it could possibly be for people who have esteem or social or even physiological if they like the genres of indie, rock and alternative etc…

Market Research
Language
Front cover - The language on the front cover has a short, memorable masthead presented in the left top corner which is quite large. The main image is eye catching with Muse looking directly into the camera which grabs the audiences eyes. They use a red and white theme for NME and its quite bright and has the two main colours shown. There are no thumbnail images on the front cover however there are headlines on the layout used as teasing contents along the bottom to make the reader want to buy the magazine. The anchorage is mainly going to attract fans of the band Muse and there is a price and barcode included on the front cover of the magazine. The main image does have importance to the magazine because it is related to the main article about Muse.
Double Page Article - the main text quotes "Warning Men at Work" which is an article about the band Muse. This is very dominant and they use white text against a black background to make this stand out more. There are 4 main images which relate to what the article is about and discusses.
Institution
There are quite a few music magazines which have something in common with NME as they are about music that a lot of the teenagers of today like to listen to such as The Clash and Uncut. There isn't really a gap in the market for this type of music however NME is a very popular magazine and its already filled a gap in the market and made a huge impact.
Ideology
I don't think there is much ideology in the magazine as the main article is only about Muse. I wouldn't say there are any morals mentioned on the front cover, contents or the two page main article however there are messages in the magazine such as being a musician can be quite hard and not as easy as it seems.
Audience
I think the target audience for this magazine has a demographic of 15-24 as music is a big interest for the majority of the youth of today and the music that NME includes is bands that are quite rock and alternative and not something maybe an elder person would like to listen to. Judging from the main two page article the target audience for this individual magazine would be fans of the band Muse.

I think NME don't represent the bands/artists included in the magazine as such as the magazine represents the band just how the fans and readers would think of the band. I think this magazine is all about music and isn't trying to promote anything as such as its a magazine for music lovers.

The Front Cover - The masthead is not as memorable or dominant as the previous one this time, this is because its white and blends in too much with the main image of JAYZ. It does however have a very memorable name as The Clash was a very popular band so in that way, it's a smart idea. The main image fills the magazine with a picture of JAYZ looking directly into the camera which is very eye catching and can attract readers. The colour scheme isn't very bright but it does have main colours such as white, silver and yellow. There is no thumbnail images but a very good anchorage as the main image is JAYZ looking serious and the headline "JAYZ Reveals All" which can grab the audiences attention and want them to wonder what hes revealing. There is a price and barcode included on the front cover and not very many teasing contents which might put off a few buyers if they arnt fans of JAYZ and see nothing interesting on the front cover to purchase this magazine.
Contents - The contents sticks to the front page main colours of white, silver and yellow and also includes two main images and one including JAYZ which is sticking to the main image on the front cover. The contents is a little boring and plain but this can also be a good idea to keep it simple and not have too much going on.
Institution
I think the Clash is very similar to the magazine NME but does gill a gap in the market as its got more of a variety of music genres then NME does. I think in that sense it is completely different.
Ideology
I don't think this magazine has any morals judging by the front cover, contents and main article because they're all about JAYZ. I think there is messages involved in the magazine from JAYZ and other artists/bands also but there isn't any acknowledge of this on the front cover, contents or main article because of the target audience that don't want to read about advice, they just want to read about music.

I think the target audience is 15-24 in the demographics category and is for groups who are outer and inner directed. I think this because of the same reason as the first magazine. Because these types of magazines are all about music and the biggest fans of music are the youth of today. I also think fans of JAYZ because of this individual magazine.

Front Cover - The masthead is a lot more dominant then the other two as its red and the rest of the page is on a greyscale. The main image is of one of the members from the Rolling Stones which shows this magazine isn't only about music that's out now and remembers good music from the past. The subjects face is clear however there is no eye contact as the member of the band is wearing glasses with a cigarette in his mouth. All the magazines i have wrote about have been rather medium close ups or close ups of the artist's/band's which is very good as it focus's on the main image. There is no bright colour scheme however there is a colour scheme of a greyscale black and white which continues from the front cover, to the contents, to the main article. There are thumbnail images to show there are lots of other story's involved. The contents also includes thumbnail images to show what else is inside, and the main article has images which relate to what the main article talks about. There is a price and barcode on the front page. There are teasing contents along the bottom of the main image which will attract the audience as they may be something that the audience would like to read about.
The main article talks about the Rolling Stones and there past which may effect the audience and demographics as it could appeal to a wider audience.
Institution
I think this fills a gap in the market because its got more of a variety of music from the past and up to the present. It has a little bit in common with NME and the Clash magazines because there all purely about music however its different to them because of the genres of music and that they can reflect on the past music a bit more then what the other two do as there main articles are about bands and artist that are popular now and are very present.

I think for this magazine the demographics category could have a bigger appeal to a wider audience age as the main article and the main image on the front cover is of the Rolling Stones which is a band from the past. This could vary from the ages of 15-50. I don't think there any any stereotypes for this magazine and its for people who are inner and outer directed. This is because the audience is for music lovers.

I don't think there are any stereotypes a part from the fact rock & roll is all about sex drugs and rock & roll because the Rolling stones where representing that slightly back in the day.

LIIAR ANalyse of the Brief
Language Each of my products need to contain:
- Masthead (short, memorable magazine title presented as a large, dominant icon to be noticed)
- The main image (full page) must be an MCU (face and shoulders only) and the subjects face must be able to be clearly seen, and make eye contact with the audience.
-Bright colour scheme with clear house-style of two or three main colours.
- Thumbnail images that illustrate other articles
- Anchorage
- Price & barcode
- Teasing contents along the bottom
- Competitions and free gifts
- Main article / feature advertised must relate to the main image.
Institution If I was producing a real magazine for an existing publisher whose other publications have something in common with mine such as NME then I’d be able to fill a gap in the market because as good as NME is, there isn’t a magazine that is mainly based on complete indie/rock and there is a lot of people who would like this type of magazine as indie/rock is extremely popular right now.
Ideology The message my magazine would create would be that music is very important and is a very historical feature which will represent our time (2011) There wouldn’t be morals as such but there will be values about tips on how to have a quality time at places like Leeds Festival and Glastonbury because the target audience is definitely going to be young music lovers who love live music and bands that are not mainstream.
Audience The target audience for my magazine is most definitely young music lovers who like going to festivals or would like to go to festivals and see bands that are indie, rock, rock & roll etc…
Representation I will represent the bands I add in my magazine to be passionate about music with interviews etc…and positive articles on music unless there are reviews on new albums that may not be that good. Stereotypically there wouldn’t be a stereotype. How Id Promote the Launch
If i was to promote the launch of my magazine on the Internet i would do this on the wyke website by adding its own page being able to look at
previous issues that are no longer on sale for people who may not attend wyke and would like to get more of a feel for it by reading the Wyke's
Magazine. To promote it to other people i would get students to feedback on the magazine and add the comments onto the web page of what
other students thought of the magazine and why they buy it. I would also put a photo of the front cover onto the web page to intrigue the
potential reader as a tease to make them want to see whats inside. Here is a mock-up of how the web page would look.

In the printed version of the magazine there would be competitions and puzzles tow in prizes that the reader could do that the online

their decision and it would represent Wyke College in a very good way and be very positive towards the college.
